The Windfall
Elimination Provision
This information explains a government program that will prevent most teachers from receiving social security or survivor benefits
even if they or their spouse has paid into the program.
The Windfall Elimination Provision does not eliminate a Social Security benefit to which you are entitled on your own earnings record. It will, however, dramatically reduce it.

These provisions are not proposed, they are in effect today.  This site speaks in clear language and will provide an email link to your representatives.

A primary role of the NEARI is to serve as an advocate in advancing the interests of its members. These activities include contract negotiations, contract enforcement (grievance and arbitration), membership promotion, internal and external communications, and maintaining an awareness of political action and government relations, legislative programs, organizing, and crisis management.

NEA represents more than 2.7 million teachers -- each one devoted to providing a quality education to every child. Our nation's teachers, from pre-school through high school, help children achieve academically and learn the skills they will need to be successful and productive citizens.
